In many ancient languages the word for “breath” is the same exact word as for the word “spirit”. In Hebrew it’s “ruach”, in Hawaiian it’s “aloha” and in Sanskrit the word for breath and spirit is “prana”.
It’s like two sides of the same coin. On one side you have the physical sensation from the touch of your breath coming in and out. On the other side you have the spiritual force of your intuition and subconscious mind that is always connected to your breathing.
You will take approximately 23,000 breaths a day and almost every single one will go by unnoticed. How you complete your breaths (through your nose or mouth, fast or slow, hard or soft) will have a significant impact on how you feel. It is those breaths that remain hidden beneath the surface of our awareness that often have the most powerful and detrimental effect on our well being.
